Online Addiction Therapy

Anywhere in California

Welcome to One Mind Therapy

We’re happy you’re here. One Mind Therapy is a collective of like-minded therapists who work with individuals across California. Our team has years of experience working with those struggling with substance use disorder, addiction, and addictive behaviors.

Types of Addiction Therapy

Our team of therapists have various specialties, and years of experience working with substance use disorder. Here are a few therapies and modalities we offer.

CBT

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is the gold standard in treating substance use disorder. Several of our therapists specialize in CBT, and offer both individual and group therapy sessions.

Holistic Therapy

Emily offers holistic therapy, including somatic experiencing. This therapeutic model seeks to address all aspects of a person’s experience, not just the substance use.

Harm Reduction

Harm reduction therapy is a form of therapy that focuses not on abstinence, but on reducing harm. For those struggling with milder forms of substance use disorder, harm reduction can be an effective method for relieving distress associated with consumption.

Motivational Interviewing

MI is non-confrontational and collaborative therapy focused on feeding internal motivation to change. We have therapists who have received specialized training in Motivational Interviewing.

Trauma Therapy

Finally, we have therapists trained in EMDR, somatic experiencing, and other trauma therapies. Many people experiencing addiction have adverse childhood experiences and traumas that need to be addressed.

MBCT

Multiple therapists at One Mind Therapy are trained in Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy. MBCT has proven effective in treating substance use disorder, and is considered a type of CBT.

The Benefits of Online Therapy

Research suggests online therapy is generally just as effective as in-person therapy. More severe psychological cases may benefit from in-person sessions. For mild to moderate cases, the benefits of online therapy include:

  • Improved convenience - No commutes, waiting rooms, or managing childcare and other responsibilities,

  • Greater comfort - Sessions from home mean you can be in your safe space rather than a steril office,

  • Increased accessibility - Wherever you are in California, we can see you. You’re not limited to therapists in your immediate area

How Online Therapy Works

Virtual addiction therapy works just like in-person therapy! The first session of online therapy may include a bit of history-taking, reviewing treatment goals and what brought you to therapy, and an opportunity for you to get to know your therapist. You will meet with your therapist on a regular schedule from the comfort of your own home or space. We ask that you find a relatively quiet, private space to offer your full attention in each session.
