Common Relationship Issues

Communication

Communication difficulties underlie nearly every relationship issue. You may be experiencing repeating arguments, feeling misunderstood, escalating arugments, walking on eggshells, or many other symptoms of communication issues.

Intimacy & Sex

Intimacy is a crucial aspect of relationships. Some relationships face different levels of sexual dseire, feelings of rejection, emotional disconnection, or changes in intimacy after transitions like stress, childbirth, or illness.

Disconnection

Disconnection can happen gradually without us noticing. Suddenly we feel like roommates rather than partners, have a sense of loneliness even when together, or feel unseen and underappreciated.

Finances

Many relationships face difficulty when it comes to money and finances. You may have different spending habits, disagreement about financial priorities, or general stress related to money, work, and budgeting.

Transitions

Often underestimated, major life transitions can cause significant stress on a relationship. As roles and identities change, the dynamic of the relationship is often put under pressure. This may be from changes in work, moving, family changes, or many other things.

Parenting & Family

Whether you have kids or a family, these issues often impact relationships deeply. Different parenting styles, disagreements about how to handle in-laws, and living in a blended family or co-parenting are all things we work with.

The Benefits of Online Therapy

Research suggests online therapy is generally just as effective as in-person therapy. More severe psychological cases may benefit from in-person sessions. For mild to moderate cases, the benefits of online therapy include:

  • Improved convenience - No commutes, waiting rooms, or managing childcare and other responsibilities,

  • Greater comfort - Sessions from home mean you can be in your safe space rather than a steril office,

  • Increased accessibility - Wherever you are in California, we can see you. You’re not limited to therapists in your immediate area

How Online Therapy Works

Virtual couples therapy works just like in-person therapy! The first session of online therapy may include a bit of history-taking, reviewing treatment goals and what brought you to therapy, and an opportunity for you to get to know your therapist. You will meet with your therapist on a regular schedule from the comfort of your own home or space. We ask that you find a relatively quiet, private space to offer your full attention in each session.
